101 Drinking Songs: Drinks in Song Lyrics (2024)

Coming soon! In a nutshell:  Documented songs with drinking in their lyrics go back to 4000 BCE. In 1919, Irving Berlin wrote the song, A Syncopated Cocktail. In the same year, a Highball was mentioned in another piece, but in 1945 the Andrews Sisters released the song, Rum and Coca-Cola. The record was banned on the airwaves but grew, selling 7 million copies. Many drinking songs through the decades were a large part of pop culture. I invite you to take a musical journey with me and see how many drinking songs you remember.
